Title
Emergent anisoropic phase in GaAs quantum wells subjected to tilted magnetic field
Abstract

GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures, famous for first observations of fractional quantum Hall (FQH) effect, stripe and bubble phases, microwave–induced resistance oscillations/zero-resistance states, and excitonic Bose condensates, continue to attract interest and bring more surprises. This talk will discuss transport measurements in the state-of-the-art GaAs quantum wells subjected to tilted magnetic fields which revealed a highly anisotropic phase in the vicinity of filling factor 7/3. While reminiscent of quantum Hall stripe phases commonly found at filling factors 9/2, 11/2, 13/2, … (and 5/2, 7/2 in tilted fields), this phase is stabilized only in a very narrow range of in-plane magnetic fields.
